A London local authority is seeking a Registered Building Inspector (Class 1) to support its Building Control team during a period of increased development activity. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established service and gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of residential and low-risk developments across the borough.

Your new role

As a Registered Building Inspector, you will carry out Building Control duties within the scope of your Class 1 registration, ensuring that building work complies with current Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting site inspections on domestic and low-risk building projects.
  • Assessing Building Regulation applications and plans.
  • Providing technical advice to homeowners, architects, contractors, and developers.
  • Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and Building Safety requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records and producing inspection reports.
  • Supporting the delivery of a high-quality Building Control service.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to achieve positive project outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Registration with the Building Safety Regulator as a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector.
  • Previous experience working within a Local Authority or Building Control environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.
