Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Class 1 driver role based in Mirfield. The Class 1 driver will be responsible for safely transporting machinery and heavy equipment to and from client sites, including delicate CNC machinery and large engineering plant.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Vehicle checks
- Secure loading and unloading
- Adherence to route plans
- Compliance with all transport and safety regulations
The role involves working closely with the machinery removal and installation teams, supporting on-site operations, and communicating effectively with dispatch and clients to ensure timely deliveries. Drivers are expected to maintain a professional attitude, follow company procedures, and represent J. Exley Ltd safely and responsibly on the road and at customer locations.

- Valid Class 1 (C+E) driving license, Driver CPC, and a clean or low-risk driving record.
- Proven experience operating Class 1 vehicles, including trailers suitable for heavy and delicate machinery.
- Strong understanding of load securing, safe loading/unloading practices, and relevant transport regulations.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with onsite teams and clients.
- Reliable, safety-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts or occasional weekends, depending on project needs.
- Experience in heavy haulage, machinery transport, or industrial/engineering environments is beneficial.
- Basic mechanical awareness and familiarity with vehicle checks and routine maintenance are an advantage.
