Finding that first Class 1 driving role can be tough. Most companies want experience, but how do you get experience if nobody gives you the opportunity?

That's where XPO's Driver Training Programme comes in.

We've created a unique programme designed specifically for newly qualified HGV drivers. Our experienced trainers and driver mentors will help you build the skills, confidence, and real-world experience you need to become a professional Class 1 driver.

From day one, you'll be employed by XPO and supported every step of the way. Once you've successfully completed your training, you'll join our Tesco contract as a fully qualified Class 1 Driver based at our Widnes site.

You'll start on £15.00 per hour while completing your training. Once you've successfully passed and are operating independently, you'll move onto our professional driver rates of £17.56 to £21.47 per hour (depending on shift pattern).

You'll spend time shadowing experienced members of our driver team, learning the practical skills that can't be taught in a classroom.

What do you need?

We're looking for people with the right attitude and commitment to succeed.

You Must Have

  • A valid C+E (Class 1) licence
  • No more than 6 penalty points and
  • No DD, DR or IN endorsements
  • A willingness to learn and develop, positive attitude and strong work ethic
