Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Class 2 Driver – Street Cleaning to join our vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates our differences and makes a real impact across the UK. This role will be carried out on site at Olive Grove Depot (S2 3GE) and around Sheffield.
What will the role offer?
Working at Amey puts you at the centre of an inspiring expert team. You will have opportunities to work with our Sheffield team by maintaining clean roads, pavements, footways and other areas of the highways network.
- The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6am – 2:30pm

What you will be doing:
- Sweep pavements, gutters and roadways using hand tools or mechanical sweepers (some requiring Class 2)
- Collect litter using hand tools and ensure proper disposal
- Empty litter bins into designated containers/receptacles
- Remove detritus, weeds, graffiti, fly posting and fly tipping from the highway network
- Clean up offensive and infectious waste, including sharps and broken glass using UKCPAS Sharps and Biohazard ways of working
- Maintain and clean roads, pavements, footways and other areas of the highway network. This includes, but not limited to, street furniture items such as traffic signs, traffic lights, junction boxes, floral planters, street bins and static anti-terrorist measures
- Participate in gritting and snow clearance during adverse weather conditions and any other force majeure event
- Report any issues or concerns encountered via the appropriate channels
- Ensure that all tasks are performed in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and/or other legislative regulation and are undertaken in accordance with approved risk assessments method statements. This includes any procedural requirements laid by Amey such as daily vehicle checks and point of work risk assessments
- Participate in all training, workshops and briefings as required
- The removal, disposal of small dead vermin/animals and the reporting of larger animals to ISU
- Perform any other appropriate task, as directed by management, in support of street cleaning operations and other departments within the Streets Ahead contract when required to do so
