Role Description

The Class 2 HGV Driver is a full-time, on-site role based in Bathgate, responsible for the safe and efficient transport of materials and equipment to and from construction sites. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Operating a Class 2 vehicle
  • Loading and securing materials
  • Following planned delivery routes
  • Completing delivery documentation and vehicle checklists
  • Working closely with site teams to ensure timely deliveries
  • Assisting with unloading where required
  • Adhering to all company and legal safety standards

  • Routine vehicle inspections
  • Reporting defects
  • Complying with driving hours regulations
  • Representing the company professionally when interacting with clients and site personnel

Flexibility to start early, manage varying workloads, and support occasional overtime or additional site duties is expected.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV license
  • Driver CPC qualification
  • Clean or low-risk driving record
  • Proven experience driving Class 2 vehicles, ideally within construction, civil engineering, or similar sectors
  • Strong knowledge of road safety, load securing, tachograph and driving hours regulations, and basic vehicle maintenance checks
  • Ability to follow delivery instructions, read site plans or manifests, and complete accurate delivery and compliance paperwork
  • Good communication skills, professional conduct with clients and colleagues, and ability to work effectively as part of a site team
  • High level of reliability, time management, and attention to detail, with a proactive focus on health and safety practices
  • Physical capability to assist with loading and unloading materials when required, and to work in varying weather and site conditions
  • Right to work in the UK; familiarity with Bathgate and surrounding areas or willingness to learn local routes is advantageous
  • Experience in construction logistics, plant or materials delivery, and any additional machine or forklift certifications are beneficial.
