WE’RE HIRING: Classic & Performance Vehicle Engineer | Restoration & Special Projects
TBK Autos | Glasgow / Uddingston
We’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Engineer / Restoration & Special Projects Technician to join our team. This isn’t your typical workshop role. We work on an eclectic collection of Ferraris, Aston Martins, Mercedes, classic cars and performance vehicles, alongside full restorations, rebuilds, modifications and bespoke projects. And we’re currently building a GT40. 🏁
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, not simply replacing parts. Someone who can look at a mechanical problem and think: How can we fix it? Can we improve it? Can we fabricate it? Can we build something better? There are no production-line book times here. No pressure to simply get the next car out of the door. We care about quality, engineering, craftsmanship and getting things right.
🔧 What you could be working on
- Classic car restoration
- Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mercedes & performance vehicles
- Engine, suspension, braking & drivetrain work
- Major mechanical rebuilds
- Bespoke vehicle builds
- Fabrication & modification
- Automotive electrical fault finding & diagnostics
- Developing one-off engineering solutions
- Improving and refining existing vehicles
- GT40 and future specialist projects

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

👨🔧 Who are we looking for?
You might be a:
- Vehicle Engineer
- Time-served Mechanic
- Classic Car Restoration Technician
- Motorsport Technician
- Fabricator
- Specialist Vehicle Technician
- Automotive Engineer
Your job title matters less to us than what you can actually do. We want someone with strong mechanical knowledge, practical engineering ability, attention to detail and the confidence to work things out when there isn't an off-the-shelf answer. Most importantly, you should have a genuine passion for cars and engineering.
🏎️ This could be for you if...
You'd rather spend your day figuring out how to manufacture a discontinued component than simply ordering a replacement. You enjoy taking something apart to understand how it works. You care about the last 5% of a restoration. You like building, modifying and improving things. And when someone says “that can't be done”, your first thought is “let's see.”
