Clean Energy Futures Strategy Lead
Salary: £55,000–£58,000 per annum
Location: Remote
Contract: Full-time, permanent, with international travel
Merrifield Consultants are recruiting a Clean Energy Futures Strategy Lead for an international not-for-profit organisation.
How can the move towards cleaner energy become more affordable, accessible and fair? This role brings people’s experiences into discussions with those making decisions across the energy sector.
You will join an established programme with a strong international network. Senior stakeholder management and programme delivery are central to the role, with opportunities to lead discussions at major events and help shape the organisation’s approach to energy.
About the Role
You will build relationships with senior people across business, government and civil society, bringing together different views and making sure research informs decisions rather than simply becoming another report.
Responsibilities
- Managing an international evidence programme, exploring people’s experiences of the energy transition and using the findings to inform discussions about policy and practice.
- Maintaining and developing senior relationships, involving members and partners from different countries, and representing the organisation at international meetings and events.
- Contributing to the wider energy strategy alongside senior colleagues and supporting other programmes.
- Reporting to funders, maintaining those relationships and developing proposals with a dedicated fundraising colleague. You will not be solely responsible for securing programme funding.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
