Position Title: Cleaner

Location: U.S. Embassy London

Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Salary: £30,191 gross starting salary per annum

About the Role

The U.S. Embassy in London is looking for a dedicated Cleaner to join our Facilities team. This is a permanent position with excellent benefits and the opportunity to work in a professional international environment.

What You'll Do

As a Custodian, you will help keep our Embassy buildings clean and well-maintained. Your daily work will include:

Cleaning Duties:

  • Clean Embassy buildings based on the daily, weekly, and monthly schedules
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets and furniture
  • Clean windows, glass, and metal surfaces
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms
  • Dust all areas, including high places
  • Clean kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Clean outdoor areas, including walkways and solar panels
  • Use cleaning machines such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and carpet cleaners

Property Preparation:

  • Clean government properties before and after people move in or out
  • Prepare properties for new residents

Other Tasks:

  • Help with cleaning during office moves and special events
  • Respond to emergency cleaning needs
  • Report any problems or broken items to your supervisor

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Elementary school completion (or equivalent)
  • Experience: Previous experience cleaning commercial or residential properties
  • Language: Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Driver's License: Current full manual UK/EU/EEA driver's license - you must be able to safely drive a van (class B) in central London
