3 months contract with a school
Umbrella Rate: £16 per hour umbrella
Summary
The School Cleaner plays a crucial role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the school premises. This position involves cleaning various areas such as classrooms, offices, corridors, and washrooms to a high standard, adhering to the school's health, safety, and hygiene protocols. By maintaining a pristine environment, the School Cleaner supports the wellbeing, health, and learning of pupils, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, halls, washrooms, staff areas, and other designated school facilities.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, wipe, and disinfect floors, surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment as required.
- Clean and sanitize toilets, washrooms, sinks, and other sanitary facilities.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with school procedures and relevant regulations.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies, including soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and other consumables.
- Report any damage, hazards, maintenance issues, spillages, or defects to the Site Manager or appropriate member of staff.
- Use cleaning equipment, materials, and chemicals safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and school procedures.
- Follow COSHH, health and safety, infection control, and other relevant procedures.
- Maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness during and after school activities and events.
- Carry out periodic or deep-cleaning tasks as directed, including cleaning windows, walls, furniture, and other areas.
- Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are stored safely and securely after use.
- Respect the confidentiality and privacy of pupils, staff, and visitors.
- Follow the school's safeguarding policies and report any safeguarding concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Work cooperatively with other cleaning and site staff to ensure the school environment is maintained to a high standard.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

Requirements

- Previous experience in a cleaning, housekeeping, facilities, or similar role.
- Experience of working safely with cleaning products and equipment.
- Experience of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Previous experience working in a school, nursery, college, healthcare, or other public-sector environment.
- Experience of working independently and managing cleaning tasks within agreed timeframes.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
Additional Information
- 15 working hours per week.
- Enhanced DBS with Children barred list.
- We work on a biweekly payment schedule.
- This is an on-site role based in Woodbridge.
