About Pathway Academy Zone
Pathway Academy Zone provides alternative education for young people who may need additional support outside a mainstream school setting. We provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where young people can build confidence and develop their skills.
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to maintain our Corby centre, ensuring our facilities are clean, hygienic and ready for young people, staff and visitors.
Purpose of the Role
You will carry out day-to-day cleaning across classrooms, offices, toilets and communal areas, helping maintain a safe and comfortable learning environment.
This is a part-time role on a zero-hours contract. Hours will be offered according to the needs of the centre and agreed in advance, with no guaranteed weekly hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, entrances and communal areas.
- Sweep, vacuum and mop floors using appropriate products and equipment.
- Clean and sanitise toilets, washbasins and kitchen or refreshment areas.
- Wipe down desks, tables, door handles and other frequently touched surfaces.
- Empty bins, replace bin liners and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Replenish soap, toilet paper, paper towels and other hygiene supplies.
- Follow cleaning schedules and complete relevant cleaning checklists.
- Use cleaning products safely and follow instructions, including COSHH procedures.
- Keep cleaning products and equipment securely stored and inaccessible to young people.
- Use protective equipment and wet-floor signs where required.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, hazards and low cleaning stock to the Centre Manager.
- Respect confidential information, documents and personal belongings.
- Maintain professional boundaries with young people and report safeguarding concerns through the centre’s procedures.
- Undertake other reasonable cleaning duties relevant to the role.

Person Specification
Essential
- Reliable, punctual and committed to completing work to a good standard.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- A responsible approach to health, safety and hygiene.
- Respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to undertake the practical duties of the role, with reasonable adjustments where required.
- Willingness to complete relevant induction and training.

Desirable
- Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience.
- Experience working in a school, education centre or similar setting.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and COSHH.
- Experience using commercial cleaning equipment.
