Volunteer Cleaner
We are seeking volunteer Cleaners who are flexible and self-motivated. The volunteer cleaners will be contacted when a young person moves out of our supported accommodation to perform a deep room clean. This means that another young person on our waiting list can move into the room as soon as possible.
Once the sign-up process has been completed, you will be added to our cleaner list, and we will contact you to see if you are available as and when we need you. This role is vital and will play a pivotal part in making sure we can not only move a young person, who is potentially homeless, in as soon as possible but also that the space they will be living in is a clean and comfortable space.
Time commitment
This role is flexible, based on your availability and the needs of the house. Deep cleans/ certain cleaning jobs will arise on an ad-hoc basis, and we will contact you when support is needed.
Location
Merryville House in Aylesbury
What you will be doing
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Vacuuming and dusting
- Cleaning windows
- Cleaning the en-suites and bathrooms
- Cleaning skirting boards, doors and all fixtures and fittings
- Wiping down all surfaces
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the service's policies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
