Job Description
We are looking for two reliable, hardworking and conscientious Cleaners to join our school team and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our students, staff and visitors. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing an efficient and high-quality cleaning service across the school. This will include cleaning classrooms, practical rooms, offices, corridors, toilets and staircases, as well as operating cleaning equipment, using cleaning materials safely and removing waste as required.
You will take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team. You will need to be organised, methodical and flexible, with a willingness to clean any area of the school as required. Reliability, punctuality, discretion and a strong sense of personal responsibility are essential.
As this role is based in a school, safeguarding is a key responsibility. The successful candidate will be committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, maintaining confidentiality and following all school safeguarding procedures. You will be expected to attend relevant safeguarding training and remain familiar with your responsibilities under Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Previous cleaning experience, particularly within a school or similar working environment, would be desirable but is not essential. An understanding of health and safety, cleaning equipment and materials, equality, diversity and inclusion is also beneficial.
This is an important role within the school community, contributing to a clean, safe and positive environment in which students can learn and staff can work effectively.
