Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Cleaning Operative role based in Portsmouth. The Cleaning Operative is responsible for routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping surfaces in assigned areas. Daily duties may include cleaning restrooms, kitchens, offices, corridors, and common areas, restocking supplies, and emptying bins. The role involves using cleaning equipment safely, following health and safety guidelines, and reporting any maintenance or safety issues. The Cleaning Operative is expected to work to agreed schedules, maintain high standards of cleanliness, and interact professionally with colleagues and building users.

- Ability to perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and waste removal.
- Understanding of basic health and safety practices, including safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and consistency in maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Good time management skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks on schedule.
- Willingness to follow instructions, site procedures, and hygiene protocols.
- Good communication skills and a professional, respectful approach toward colleagues and building occupants.
- Previous experience in cleaning or facilities work is beneficial but not essential; training can be provided.
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry out physical tasks for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodations.
