FTE £25,299 - £26,812
Job type: Part-time 25 hours per week, permanent
To provide a high standard of cleaning and hygiene across the college campus, ensuring classrooms, offices, communal areas, toilets, and other facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, lecture rooms, offices, corridors, stairways, and communal areas to a high standard.
- Clean and sanitise toilets, washrooms, and other high-use areas.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and maintain a variety of floor surfaces.
- Empty waste bins and recycling bins and dispose of waste safely.
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, fitting, doors, and other surfaces.
- Replenish cleaning materials and washroom supplies when required.
- Report any damage, hazards, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow college cleaning schedules, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and in accordance with instructions.
- Maintain confidentiality and behave professionally when working around students and staff.
- Support occasional deep-cleaning activities and college events where and when required.
- Carry out other reasonable cleaning duties as directed/instructed by the cleaning supervisor.
- Must have a degree of flexibility in line with the needs of the organisation.
Working Conditions
The role may involve working across different sites/areas of the college and may include early morning, evening shifts. The postholder will be required to work around students, staff, and visitors while maintaining a professional and courteous manner.
Safeguarding
The postholder will be expected to comply with the college’s safeguarding policies and procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Appropriate pre-employment and safeguarding checks may be required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Previous cleaning experience, preferably in an educational, commercial, or similar environment.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible approach to work.
- Ability to follow instructions, cleaning schedules, and health and safety procedures.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including standing, bending, and moving cleaning equipment.
- Experience working in a school, college, university, or other educational setting.
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Knowledge of relevant workplace health and safety procedures.
