Cleaning Supervisor – Band 3

Facility Services and Sustainability

Working Hours: 05:30–11:30, Saturday and Sunday

Contract Type: Continuing (Permanent, Part-Time)


About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Cleaning Supervisor to join our Facility Services and Sustainability team. This is a working supervisory role, responsible for overseeing a team of weekend cleaners while also undertaking cleaning duties alongside the team.

The successful candidate will ensure that all assigned areas are cleaned to a high standard and in line with University policies, contributing to a clean, safe and welcoming campus environment.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and basic line management of weekend cleaning staff.
  • Ensure cleaning tasks are completed to agreed standards and within required timescales.
  • Support and participate in cleaning duties as part of the working team.
  • Oversee team deployment and manage workloads across designated areas.
  • Manage and record staff holidays, initial sickness reporting and documentation.
  • Review and record overtime requests in accordance with University procedures.
  • Maintain good communication within the cleaning team and with wider Facility Services colleagues.
  • Promote safe working practices and adherence to health and safety guidelines.

  • Experience in cleaning within a commercial, institutional or similar environment.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate and support a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices related to cleaning operations.
