Supervisor - Goodenough College, London
£16.75 per hour
16 hours weekend
Regular overtime during the week
We are looking for a proactive and people-focused Supervisor to lead and support our housekeeping team at Goodenough College. You will play a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members, guests, and clients, while delivering services in line with contractual requirements and ESS standards.
This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will balance operational delivery with team leadership, quality assurance, and health & safety compliance.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver housekeeping services in line with contractual Service Level Agreements and ESS procedures
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with company and client Health & Safety requirements
- Report all health & safety hazards, near misses, and accidents promptly
- Maintain a consistently clean, safe, and hygienic working environment
- Support the implementation of the Compass Service Framework
- Carry out regular quality audits to ensure high standards of cleanliness and productivity
- Recruit, train, and develop team members to perform their roles safely and effectively
- Engage, motivate, and manage the team through regular briefings, performance reviews, and day-to-day supervision
- Manage rotas, timesheets, wages, and associated paperwork accurately and on time
- Control costs within agreed budgets, including labour, equipment, and stock
- Undertake general housekeeping duties as required
- Attend off-site meetings and training courses when required
- Role model The ESS Way behaviours at all times

Person Specification
Essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers and colleagues
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Positive, flexible, and customer-focused approach
- Experience supervising people in a commercial FM or housekeeping environment (minimum 6 months)
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH
- Ability to manage rotas, staffing, and basic cost controls
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet business needs

Desirable
- Previous experience in a similar supervisory role
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant area
- BICSc Level 1 or Level 2 qualification
