Shift Pattern

  • Monday to Friday
  • Nights: 10:00pm - 5:45am Monday - Thursday, 4:00pm - 8:50pm on Friday!

Salary

  • £40,000.00 + 33% shift allowance (totalling £53,200.00) + bonus

Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Cleanroom and Packaging Shift Manager to join our growing leadership team.

About the Role

In this role, you'll lead a cleanroom and packaging manufacturing team to deliver production targets safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll oversee day-to-day operations, resource planning, people management, training, performance, and continuous improvement activities, while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the successful manufacture of orthopaedic implants and instrumentation, driving performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and People (SQDIP) metrics.

Responsibilities

As a Cleanroom and Packaging Shift Manager you will:

  • Leading and developing a team of up to 25 operatives within a highly regulated cleanroom and packaging environment.
  • Driving a culture of Right First Time (RFT), quality excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Organising daily and weekly shift activities to deliver manufacturing plans and customer requirements.
  • Managing resource allocation, schedule adherence, and labour planning to maximise productivity.
  • Leading Shift Start-Up meetings, shift handovers, quality discussions, and performance reviews.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and cleanroom operating standards.
  • Investigating production and quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques, including 8D methodologies.
  • Driving 5S standards, Kaizen initiatives, and team engagement in continuous improvement activities.
  • Building strong relationships with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Supply Chain, and HR teams.
  • Supporting employee development through coaching, training plans, one-to-one meetings, and performance appraisals.

Requirements

The ideal Cleanroom and Packaging Shift Manager will have/be:

  • Demonstrable experience as a strong, engaging, and driven people manager within a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for managing 10-25 operatives.
  • Strong communication, delegation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Understanding of cleanroom facilities and their operation.
  • Experience working within quality-focused and highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Supply Chain, and HR teams.
  • Experience driving performance through structured communication and accountability.
  • Positive, collaborative, organised, and proactive "can do" approach to work.
  • Completed or currently working towards a recognised leadership qualification such as ILM Level 5.
