Help keep streets clean and tidy for residents and visitors to Leicester.
Cleansing Services provide a variety of street cleaning operations to maintain a clean environment within designated areas across the city. We work in the heart of the communities to ensure local areas are clean, safe, and free from environmental issues. We take pride in the work we carry out and in providing an attractive place to live.
Join our friendly and welcoming service to manage and motivate a team of Cleansing Operatives. You’ll work closely with the team to ensure they undertake statutory street cleaning duties. We will provide you with the necessary equipment to carry out the role efficiently, as well as a uniform. You’ll be able to walk across various areas of the City, in all weather conditions and be prepared to work unsociable hours.
There is full time and part time permanent positions working 37 hours or 14.5 hours per week from Monday to Saturday on a rota basis. Hours of work are from 5.15am - 8.30pm (with various shift starting times within this). You’ll be based at 90 Leycroft Road – Cleansing Services however you’ll be required to travel across the city to undertake site visits.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll undertake daily inspections of designated sites and lead a team of operatives. You’ll ensure they are fully trained and competent, ensuring they are working productively and safely. You’ll identify specific environmental or hazardous aspects. Using chemicals and equipment as necessary, you’ll ensure the maintenance of standards. You’ll be required to removing litter, leaves, detritus, illegal dumping, dog fouling, graffiti and emptying of litter bins.
Duties may include snow clearance, as directed by management, and emergency duties in line with the responsibility of all employees to provide a service to the public.

What You’ll Need
Experience of working in a cleaning environment as well as an understanding of HASWA and COSHH regulations. Although previous driving experience is a desirable, you’ll need to have the ability to be responsible for allocated vehicles and report vehicle faults and ensure the vehicles are clean and safe to drive. Using your excellent communication skills, you’ll be able to liaise with Managers and conduct team meetings. With your strong organisation skills, you’ll be able to plan and prioritise workloads to ensure the team are working to satisfactory standards. Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and lead a team, whilst creating a positive working environment.
Appointment will be subject to a Full UK driving licence.
