Sales Merchandiser (Clearance)
ROLE PURPOSE
Our Sales Merchandisers are at the forefront of our clearance stores, able to engage and build trust and rapport with our customers. They provide a ‘here to help’ service and are focused on matching the wants and needs of our customers to Oak Furnitureland products.
They play a key role in the maintenance and display of the stock within their showrooms and ensuring pricing and point of sale are kept up to date. As an OFL product champion, they use their extensive knowledge of product ranges, availability in their store, specifications, and build quality to drive up sales and the average transaction value.
Core Responsibilities
- Liaise with customers in store to understand their requirements and where they are on their purchasing journey, matching products to drive sales to meet personal and store KPI’s.
- Provide all customers with exceptional service by demonstrating accurate knowledge about available ranges currently in store.
- Sell and promote our products and services in an informative, engaging, and compliant way to increase average transaction value.
- Maintain the high standards expected of an Oak Furnitureland showroom, including housekeeping, stock maintenance, and displaying current POS.
- Continually feed new stock onto the showroom floor and work with the Customer Impact Manager to move showroom displays to maximize potential sales.
- Assist in customer collections and stock loading as and when required.
- Work collaboratively both as an in-store team and across all areas of the business.
- Access and participate in mandatory and relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Skills And Experience
- Extensive experience working in customer-facing environments, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge and understanding of retail sales and delivering an exceptional customer journey, ideally within furniture or similar consultative-based sales environments.
- Knowledge of using sales models and following sales processes enabling personal targets to be achieved.
- Highly skilled at questioning and listening techniques, adopting a persuasive communication style with the ability to influence, generate, and build positive relationships.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working within successful high-performing teams.
- Experience of consistently achieving stretch personal and team goals and KPIs.
- Understands the link between customer experience and key metrics such as NPS, Trustpilot, repeat business, and new sales opportunities.
- Up-to-date knowledge and awareness of the furniture industry, associated products and services, and understanding of Oak Furnitureland’s USPs and competitors.
- Understanding of the regulatory frameworks associated with this sector and role, with relevant experience enabling the following and delivering of set policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of purchasing motivations and the internal and external factors that could affect purchasing decisions.
