Role Summary
The Clearing Strategy and Finance Director is responsible for supporting the Head of Clearing to ensure the business is run in a sustainable and scalable fashion:
- Developing and constantly evolving MI to ensure effective management
- Monitoring division performance, and establishing metrics for appropriate performance tracking
- Liaising with the finance team to understand, challenge and monitor financial reporting
- Provide timely MI for the business
- Highlighting underperforming departments and / or customers within clearing and making appropriate recommendations to improve performance
- Helping to design, implement and track the organic and inorganic strategy of the business, including acquisitions.
- Assisting the clearing team to identify areas to drive revenue and risk adjusted profit growth
- Working with key stakeholders across the Clearing business to deliver commercial excellence
- Working closely with Clearing COO and assist to ensure efficient delivery of key projects as well as ongoing financial tracking
- Representing the business to senior internal and external stakeholder to ensure transparent communication and effective representation
- Provide communication materials for townhall, investor relations, board packs or other external constituents
- Carrying communication at the highest standard of integrity and respect within the firm
Responsibilities
Role specific:
- Collaborate with the Group Head of Clearing and the relevant clearing business heads to drive organizational vision and strategy
- Identify and support execution of organic growth opportunities
- Work closely with Group Strategy team on screening and execution of potential inorganic growth opportunities
- Develop and evolve annual budgets and 3-year plans for each department within clearing with input from key stakeholders and support the business to reach its revenue and profit targets
- Design, implement and deliver monthly, daily, weekly financial and operational management information to effectively monitor and steer the business, designing KPIs to help ensure the business remains on track with its long-term targets
- Refine client data reporting to support commercial teams with cross selling initiatives, improving client profitability, as well as targeting and onboarding new clients where needed
- Responsible for ensuring cost discipline across the business, reviewing and managing direct and allocated costs on a regular basis, identifying actions to manage costs on a sustainable basis
- Facilitate direction of Support and Control resources in accordance with business priorities
- Develop strong relationships across the businesses and support areas to improve the interaction between Clearing and other parts of the Group
- Work closely with Group functions, including finance, treasury, IT and operations to ensure appropriate support for the business and the interests of Clearing business are appropriately prioritised
- Represent the business to senior internal and external stakeholder to ensure transparent communication and effective representation
- Be a role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values
- Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the FCA
- Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
- At all times complying with the FCA’s Code of Conduct
- To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility
- To report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as required
- To escalate risk events immediately
