Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer to join the Ophthalmology Department within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient, accurate, and comprehensive administrative and reception service to support the delivery of Ophthalmology services. The post holder will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives, carers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders, managing telephone enquiries and face-to-face interactions in a professional, courteous, and responsive manner.
Working as part of the Ophthalmology Administrative Team, the post holder will support the smooth day-to-day running of the service by undertaking a range of administrative duties, including appointment management, patient record maintenance, clinic preparation, and data entry. The role requires close collaboration with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a seamless and patient-focused service is delivered across the Ophthalmology Directorate.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads effectively, and a commitment to providing high standards of customer service within a busy healthcare environment.

This post is 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
- To provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the service.
- Undertake general reception duties, acting as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff.
- The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

- Educated in English and Maths to GCSE standard
Desirable criteria
- IT qualification

- Previous clerical /administration experience
- Experience of working within a busy office
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS processes.
- Understanding of NHS systems such as WPAS and I-Fit

- Enthusiastic, confident with a positive attitude.

- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in relevant Administration or Customer Services
