Hillcrest Homes is recruiting for a Clerk of Works.
The post will cover the geographical areas of East Lothian, Edinburgh, Fife, Perth and Kinross, and Dundee.
About the Department
The Development Team is part of Hillcrest Homes one of Scotland’s largest housing associations operating in Angus, Dundee, Edinburgh, East Lothian, Perth and Kinross, Fife, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire providing quality social and mid-market housing, maintenance, and repair services as well as care and support services.
Our main purpose is to deliver high quality, energy efficient, easy to maintain new build affordable housing as part of our housing and refurbishment programme.
About the Role
The Clerk of Works acts as the organisation's on-site quality inspector and technical representative, ensuring that new build, refurbishment, maintenance and regeneration projects are delivered to the required standards, specification, programme and regulatory requirements.
Collaborating with Project Officers, the management team, and the Head of Development to deliver Hillcrest’s Board-approved Housing and Regeneration new build programme.
Working closely with internal and external key stakeholders, responsibilities will range across all key stages of the construction process from assessing the viability of new development opportunities through to co-ordinating the remedial works as part of the end of defect process.

- Experience of the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, construction methods, materials, building regulations and housing development processes.
- Understanding of health and safety and statutory compliance requirements.
- Ability to identify defects, non-compliance issues, and potential risks early.
- Ability to monitor progress against programme, specification, and quality requirements.
- Ability to build professional relationships with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong customer focus with an understanding of the importance of delivering homes that meet residents' needs.
- Be able to demonstrate basic IT skills particularly in the use of Microsoft Office programmes – Word, Excel and Email.
- Able to demonstrate Planning and Organisational skills, including the ability to manage your own calendar.
- Experience of team working and motivating others to meet deadlines.
- Availability to a motor vehicle that allows for daily travel to and from varying sites across multiple local authorities and organisation offices.
- Ability to provide cover across all our geographical areas as required.
