The Company
Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality project management, surveying, and advisory services across the South East. Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are seeking a Clerk of Works with cladding experience to join their team in London or Kent.
The Role
As a Clerk of Works, you will support the successful delivery of a wide range of construction projects from inception through to completion. Working closely with senior members of the surveying and project management team, you will assist in providing Employers Agent and Project Management services while developing your own technical and professional capabilities.
This role is particularly suited to someone who has experience working on cladding remediation, façade improvement, or building safety related projects and is looking to develop their career within a leading consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Employer's Agent Duties
- Assist senior colleagues in the delivery of Employer's Agent and Project Management instructions across multiple projects.
- Prepare Employer's Requirements, design briefs, specifications and associated project documentation.
- Produce and manage tender documentation packages.
- Analyse tender submissions and prepare tender recommendation reports.
- Compile and administer Building Contracts and Development Agreements.
- Support the delivery of contract administration services throughout the project lifecycle.
- Carry out site inspections and quality monitoring visits, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Chair project meetings where required and accurately prepare meeting minutes and action trackers.
- Monitor project progress, identifying and mitigating risks where appropriate.
- Assist with interim valuations and payment certification processes.
- Support the agreement of Final Accounts.
- Assess and review Extension of Time applications and Loss & Expense claims.
- Undertake end-of-defects inspections and produce final project reports.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme, budget and quality objectives.

Business Development
- Support the promotion of consultancy services to existing and prospective clients.
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships.
- Contribute to networking and business development initiatives where appropriate.
Compliance & Quality
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and quality management systems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry legislation, regulations and best practice.
- Ensure compliance with current health and safety requirements and building safety legislation.
- Accurately maintain project records and documentation.
About You
Qualifications & Professional Development
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Working towards Chartered status with RICS, CIOB or an equivalent professional body.
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience
- Previous experience within a consultancy, client-side or contractor environment undertaking Project Management and/or Employer's Agent duties.
- Experience working on cladding remediation, façade replacement, external envelope or wider building safety projects.
- Knowledge of contract administration processes and project delivery methodologies.
- Experience of tendering, procurement and contract management.
- Understanding of JCT Building Contracts is essential.
Technical Skills
- Strong construction and building technology knowledge.
- Good understanding of project delivery from inception through to completion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Microsoft Project.
- Experience using project management and reporting systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Workbench software would be beneficial, although training will be provided.
