Role Overview
We are currently working in partnership with our client, a well-established multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy, who are recruiting for a Clerk of Works on a permanent basis with a £50,000 salary. The role is home-based (remote), covering Norfolk and Suffolk, with projects across East Anglia.
Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will be MICWCI qualified and have experience undertaking inspections on new build and refurbishment projects, predominantly within the residential sector.
Duties
- Undertaking regular site visits across construction projects in East Anglia
- Producing high-quality and timely professional site inspection reports, supported by photographs
- Verifying construction works against contractual drawings, employer’s requirements, warranty provider standards and Building Regulations
- Identifying construction defects, discrepancies and areas of non-compliance
- Taking ownership of defect trackers within Site Visit Reports and ensuring these remain current and up to date
- Chasing, reviewing and discussing outstanding information with site teams and contractors
- Managing and undertaking snagging, de-snagging and end-of-defect inspections
- Liaising confidently with Building Contractors, Employer’s Agents, Project Managers and Clients
- Ensuring project filing is maintained in line with company filing systems and QA processes
- Maintaining accurate records of inspections, defects and project progress

Experience Required
- MICWCI or CIOB
- Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Construction Inspector or similar position
- Undertaking inspections on new build and/or refurbishment projects
- Monitoring construction works against drawings, specifications, employer’s requirements and warranty standards
- Full UK driving licence
- Using tablet-based inspection software such as Field View or PlanRadar
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of building construction
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and discrepancies
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied programme of site inspections
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and MS Project
