Clerk of Works

We are currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual to join our Architectural Design and Project Management team as a Clerk of Works. The team delivers new-build, refurbishment and extension projects across Council properties and facilities, including major capital schemes.

Recent projects delivered by the team include Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School, Abbey Primary School, a carbon-positive Technology Centre at Baglan Energy Park, a new leisure centre, library and retail development in Neath, and the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the former Plaza Cinema in Port Talbot as a community facility.

Role Overview

As a Clerk of Works, you will support the delivery of construction projects by supervising works on site, monitoring quality and compliance, maintaining accurate records and reporting progress to the Project Manager or Contract Administrator.

Your daily routine will include:

  • Supervising works undertaken by external and internal contractors.
  • Checking that materials and workmanship comply with the approved drawings and specifications.
  • Maintaining accurate project records as works progress.
  • Reporting regularly to the Project Manager or Contract Administrator.
  • Supporting the maintenance of high quality standards across construction activities.
  • Fulfilling the role of Contract Supervisor under the NEC form of contract.

About You

Do you have:

  • Substantial practical knowledge and experience of building construction, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a large project team.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records of work activities and project progress.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements and contractual responsibilities on construction sites.
  • Experience of carrying out the duties of a Supervisor under the NEC form of contract.
  • An HND, HNC or degree in a relevant subject, or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Membership of the Institute of Clerks of Works, the Chartered Institute of Building or an equivalent professional institution, or progress towards membership, would be advantageous.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
