In Scope

GI Group has an exciting opportunity for a Clerk of Works to join a public sector client, helping to drive quality across construction, refurbishment and maintenance works. You’ll be responsible for on-site quality inspections, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification and to the required standards, and producing clear reports on findings. This is a field-based role with 1 day per week office-based admin.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete regular site inspections (workmanship, materials, compliance to specification/contract)
  • Identify and report defects, deviations and risks, and support mitigation actions
  • Monitor works including foundations, building envelope, services, fit-out, infrastructure and landscaping
  • Check compliance with site safety plans and raise any H&S concerns
  • Maintain issue/risk logs and contribute to lessons learned / continuous improvement
  • Build strong working relationships and support resolution of delivery issues (“no surprises” reporting)

Essential requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Clerk of Works / site inspection / quality assurance role (construction, maintenance or refurbishment)
  • Strong technical knowledge and confidence challenging poor workmanship/non-compliance
  • Strong written reporting and stakeholder communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the assigned region
  • Good IT skills including the use of MS Office applications
