A well-established public sector organisation is seeking a Roads Officer to join their Roads Services team on a long term temporary basis working 2-3 days a week. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery and development of road infrastructure services, ensuring projects and maintenance activities are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with statutory requirements.

Your new role

As Roads Officer, you will support the delivery of a wide range of roads services activities, helping to maximise operational efficiency whilst ensuring compliance with organisational policies, budgets and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery and development of roads and infrastructure services.
  • Assisting in the management and delivery of road maintenance and improvement works.
  • Monitoring projects and programmes to ensure compliance with budget, quality and performance targets.
  • Providing technical support and advice on roads-related matters.
  • Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with statutory requirements and organisational policies.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and best-value service delivery.
  • Liaising with internal departments, contractors, stakeholders and members of the public.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you will ideally possess:

  • HNC in Civil Engineering, SVQ Level 2, or a related qualification.
  • Alternatively, demonstrable equivalent experience within roads, highways or civil engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of road maintenance, utilities, construction or infrastructure delivery.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a public sector environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
