Location: Lakenheath, Suffolk

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Contract: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP / TBC

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clerk of Works to join our team on a construction project in Lakenheath, Suffolk.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the quality of workmanship and materials on site, ensuring that construction activities are delivered in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, programme and relevant standards.

The Role

As Clerk Of Works, You Will

  • Monitor construction works on site and ensure they meet the required quality standards.
  • Inspect materials, workmanship and completed works.
  • Identify defects, non-conformances and potential quality issues, ensuring these are addressed promptly.
  • Check that works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, method statements and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, progress, defects and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and the wider project team.
  • Attend site meetings and provide clear reports on quality and progress.
  • Monitor testing, commissioning and snagging activities.
  • Assist with the handover process and ensure outstanding works are completed to the required standard.
  • Promote a strong culture of health, safety and quality throughout the project.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience working as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, Quality Inspector or similar construction role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and quality standards.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to challenge poor workmanship and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Good IT and report-writing skills.
  • A relevant construction qualification or professional accreditation is desirable.
  • CSCS, CIOB, ICWCI or equivalent certification would be advantageous.
