Governor Support Ltd is seeking an organised, reliable and confident Clerk to provide professional clerking support to school Governing Boards and Committees across East Lancashire.

This is a casual, ad hoc role. Clerks will usually support a number of allocated schools, each of which typically holds around three Governing Board or Committee meetings per term. Meeting requirements may vary and work is offered according to service needs and availability.

Key Information

  • Casual/ad-hoc basis typically with three meetings per school per term.
  • Variable hours, during school term time, usually late afternoon or early evening.
  • In person meetings across East Lancashire.
  • Occasional online meetings.

The Role

You will attend Governing Board and committee meetings, either in person, or online, and produce clear, accurate and professional minutes. You will work with Head Teachers, Chairs and governors and will be supported by Governor Support Ltd with templates, guidance and ongoing training.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has excellent written English and consistently produces accurate work;
  • can listen carefully, identify key points and produce clear, concise minutes;
  • is organised, dependable and able to meet fixed deadlines;
  • is available for late afternoon and evening meetings;
  • is confident using Microsoft Word, email and online meeting platforms;
  • can work independently and communicate professionally with a range of people; and
  • understands the importance of confidentiality, discretion and impartiality.
