Experienced Governance Professional

Abbey Park Primary School, Pershore

Abbey Park Primary School in Pershore is seeking an experienced Governance Professional to provide quality governance support and advice to our governing body.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a governing body with a strong commitment to effective governance, an excellent culture and a collaborative approach. Our governors bring a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience, and work together in an open, honest and transparent way.

About The Role

As Governance Professional, you will play a key role in ensuring that the governing body operates effectively and in accordance with its statutory and regulatory responsibilities.

You will provide trusted advice, guidance and administrative support to governors and senior leaders, helping to ensure that meetings are well planned, properly documented and focused on the strategic priorities of Abbey Park Primary School.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing governance advice and guidance to the governing body and its committees.
  • Supporting the effective planning, preparation and administration of meetings.
  • Preparing agendas, papers, minutes and action records to a professional standard.
  • Maintaining accurate governance records and ensuring appropriate follow-up of decisions and actions.
  • Advising governors on their roles, responsibilities and statutory duties.
  • Supporting effective communication between governors, senior leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that governance arrangements remain compliant with relevant legislation, regulations and guidance.
  • Supporting governor induction, development and training.
  • Contributing to the ongoing review and improvement of governance processes and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

About You

We are looking for an experienced governance professional who can provide confident, impartial and practical advice. You will have a good understanding of effective governance and the ability to work constructively with people at all levels.

You will bring:

  • Experience of working in a governance or company secretarial environment.
  • A good understanding of governance principles, regulatory requirements and good practice.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to prepare quality agendas, papers and minutes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The confidence to provide appropriate challenge and advice while building positive relationships.
  • Excellent judgement, discretion and integrity.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to your work.

Salary/fee: SC4, scale point 7-11 (£16.19 - £17.25 per hour)
