Salary

  • £13.26 - £13.47 per hour
  • 10 hours per week
  • £6,914 - £7,024 pro rated per annum (Grade 5 SCP 5-6)

About the Role

Dorset Studio School is seeking an organised and professional Clerk to the Governing Body to provide administrative and clerking support to our Governors.

The clerk will be responsible for advising the Governing Body on constitutional matters, duties and powers and will work within the broad current legislative framework. He/she will secure the continuity of Governing Body business and observe confidentiality requirements.

This important role is responsible for ensuring the effective administration of governance processes, including:

  • Preparing and distributing meeting agendas and supporting documentation
  • Organising Governing Body and Committee meetings
  • Attending meetings and producing accurate minutes
  • Maintaining governance records and statutory documentation
  • Supporting the recruitment, appointment and induction of new Governors
  • Providing procedural advice and administrative support to the Governing Body

Full Governing Board meetings take place at least termly along with other committee meetings. Occasional additional meetings may also require attendance.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Is able to produce clear, accurate minutes and records
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Outlook and Teams
  • Can work independently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
  • Has experience in administration or governance (desirable, but not essential)

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Keeping Children Safe in Education

Dorset Studio School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who is not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
