CLIENT ACCOUNTANT
Scanlans Property Management
Competitive
Hybrid - Manchester
Role Overview
You will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely client accounting for a diverse residential block management portfolio. Based in Manchester with hybrid working, you will be the financial partner to our property managers and clients, turning complex numbers into clear insight and dependable outcomes.
You will thrive in a team that values accountability, care, and collaboration. Your expertise will ensure service charge funds are safeguarded, year-end accounts land on time, and clients receive proactive, professional support that builds trust and long-term relationships.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
You will own the end-to-end service charge accounting cycle for an allocated portfolio, from bank reconciliations and accruals to draft year-end accounts and audit liaison. Most days you will collaborate with property managers, resolve queries from clients and suppliers, and keep ledgers, statements and budgets accurate and up to date.
What Success Looks Like
- Consistently accurate ledgers, reconciled bank accounts and clean month-end close within agreed timelines.
- Year-end service charge accounts delivered on schedule, with clear working papers and minimal audit queries.
- Proactive communication that keeps property managers and clients informed, with queries resolved promptly.
- Forecasts and budgets that are realistic, well-evidenced and easily understood by non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong cash management: timely supplier payments, robust credit control support and clear client statements.
- Continuous improvement mindset that streamlines processes and strengthens financial controls.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
