Who we are
At Alchemy Accountancy, you can expect to join a close-knit team within a modern and growing digital practice, working with fantastic small businesses, predominantly in the digital, creative, and media sectors.
Our business exists to help these clients with all aspects of their financial operations. Our services range from data integrity and bookkeeping through to financial reporting, tax, and business advisory. We use cloud tools like FreeAgent and Xero to keep things efficient, clear, and collaborative.
About the role
You will own your own portfolio of clients and be their main day-to-day contact within the practice. You’ll build strong relationships, keep their records in good shape, and take responsibility for preparing high-quality accounts and tax work.
You’ll also support Client Managers on larger or more complex clients, providing the underlying technical work they need to give advice and insight.
What you’ll do
Client work & relationships
- Act as the main point of contact for your own portfolio of clients
- Build positive, friendly relationships and provide a calm, helpful point of contact
- Answer day-to-day queries on bookkeeping, software, and basic tax questions, referring more complex matters to a Client Manager where appropriate
- Help clients keep their records accurate and complete in FreeAgent or Xero

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
