Client Accountant – Media & Production
Location: London
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 DOE

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Client Accountant to join a fast-paced media and production business, responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of client accounts and projects.
Working closely with clients, producers, project teams and the wider finance function, you will oversee billing, WIP, revenue, project costs, reconciliations and financial reporting, ensuring client accounts are accurate, commercially controlled and billed correctly.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a creative, client-facing environment and wants a role that combines accounting with commercial project management.
Key Responsibilities
Client Accounting & Billing
- Manage the financial administration of a portfolio of client accounts and projects.
- Raise and issue client invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Monitor billing schedules and ensure all completed work is invoiced promptly.
- Review client contracts, purchase orders and agreed billing arrangements.
- Resolve billing queries and discrepancies with clients and internal teams.
- Work closely with account management and production teams to ensure billing reflects work delivered.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and support the credit control process.
- Reconcile client accounts and investigate any differences.

WIP – Work in Progress
- Monitor and manage WIP across multiple client projects.
- Review WIP regularly to ensure costs are accurately recorded against the correct client/project.
- Identify projects where costs have been incurred but not yet billed.
- Work with production and account teams to ensure WIP is converted to billing at the appropriate time.
- Prepare WIP reports and provide commentary on movements and variances.
- Investigate aged or unusual WIP balances and ensure these are cleared appropriately.
- Support month-end WIP reporting and reconciliations.

Project & Commercial Finance
- Monitor project budgets against actual expenditure.
- Track project profitability and gross margins.
- Review costs, revenue and expected final project values.
- Identify potential overspends and commercial risks.
- Assist with forecasting and revenue recognition.
- Provide financial insight to Account Managers, Producers and senior stakeholders.
- Support project teams with financial queries and commercial decision-making.
Desirable
- Experience within a media agency, production company, advertising agency or creative business.
- Experience with project accounting or job-costing systems.
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification/studies.
- Experience working with high-volume client billing.
- Experience managing WIP across multiple projects or client accounts.
