Role Description

The Client Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Wokingham. The Client Accountant is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing financial accounts, tax returns, and providing proactive accounting support and advice. The role involves building strong client relationships, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, and supporting clients in achieving their business objectives. The role involves collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality service and contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting with the management of a diverse portfolio of clients, being the first point of contact and responding to client enquiries in an accurate and timely manner
  • Statutory accounts preparation for a range of SME, limited company, sole trader and larger businesses
  • Involvement with all aspects of tax, including personal and corporate tax compliance and advisory work
  • Nurture junior team members and provide mentoring and guidance
  • Review accounts and personal tax work prepared by junior team members
  • The management of both corporate clients and individuals to support partners, including meetings both in person and virtually

About you

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) or QBE.
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong core accounting skills, including Accounting and Finance, with experience preparing and reviewing financial records and reports.
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Solid understanding of UK accounting standards and basic tax principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a client-focused and collaborative working style.
