Role Description

The Client Adviser – SME is a full-time, hybrid role based in Birmingham, with flexibility to work from home part of the week. In this position, the individual will manage and develop a portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprise clients, providing insurance advice and solutions tailored to their business needs.

  • Handling client enquiries
  • Preparing quotes
  • Managing renewals
  • Processing mid-term adjustments
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements

The role involves maintaining regular contact with clients to support retention and growth, liaising with insurers to secure suitable coverage and terms, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver a seamless client experience. The Client Adviser – SME will also identify opportunities for cross-selling additional services and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and client service standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong client relations and customer satisfaction skills, with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships with SME clients.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including clear verbal and written communication and a professional, client-focused approach.
  • Solid understanding of insurance products and markets, preferably with experience advising SME or commercial clients.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines.
  • Comfort with hybrid working arrangements and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., progress toward or completion of CII certifications) and prior experience in an insurance advisory or brokerage environment are beneficial.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and insurance broking systems, with good numerical and analytical skills.
