What does a Client Delivery Director do at WPP Production?

The Client Delivery Director is responsible for the overall client relationship, commercial performance and successful delivery for our Luxury Watch Maker's Creative Production business area.

This role owns the strategic client partnership for Creative Production while ensuring operational excellence through Business Directors and the Project Director. Working closely with the Managing Director on account growth and the Operations Director on governance, this role ensures delivery remains commercially successful, operationally efficient and aligned with the Luxury Watch Brand's quality expectations.

As the senior Creative Production lead, the Client Delivery Director provides strategic direction, commercial ownership and executive client leadership while driving collaboration across Creative Production, Deployment, Creative Excellence, Operations and specialist teams.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Account Ownership

  • Own the senior day-to-day client relationship for the Luxury Watch Makers Creative Production business.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior client stakeholders, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Represent Creative Production within the clients leadership team and escalate strategic matters to the Managing Director where appropriate.
  • Lead Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Business Reviews, presenting commercial performance, KPIs, account roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives.

Commercial Ownership

  • Own the commercial performance of the Creative Production department, including forecasting, revenue performance, Scope of Work evolution and financial health.
  • Identify commercial opportunities, support account growth and contribute to strategic account planning.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to ensure accurate forecasting, reporting and commercial governance.

Delivery Leadership

  • Own successful delivery across the Creative Production function through Business Directors and Senior Account Directors, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget and to the clients quality standards.
  • Provide senior client escalation for commercial priorities, delivery risks and account performance.
  • Ensure consistent delivery standards, governance and ways of working across the department.

Operational Governance

  • Partner closely with the Project Director to ensure operational excellence across governance, resource planning, reporting, delivery standards and process optimisation.
  • Work with the Operations Director to establish KPIs, governance frameworks, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support implementation of operational improvements while maintaining delivery excellence.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop Business Directors, who in turn lead Senior Account Directors responsible for the day-to-day management of each Creative Production pillar.
  • Build a high-performing, accountable and collaborative leadership team.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Strategic Planning

  • Own quarterly planning, account roadmaps and long-term client development plans.
  • Drive strategic account planning alongside the Managing Director and wider leadership team.
  • Align client priorities with delivery capability and operational planning.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Deployment, Operations, Creative Excellence, Production and specialist teams to deliver one seamless client experience.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial priorities, operational capability and client expectations.
  • Support collaboration across London, offshore teams and Centres of Excellence where appropriate.

Senior Leadership and Agency Initiatives

  • Play an active and influential role within the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the agency’s strategy, priorities and performance.
  • Lead and sponsor agency-wide initiatives beyond the Creative Production remit, ensuring clear ownership and successful implementation.
  • Partner with fellow leaders to address shared business, people, operational and cultural priorities.
  • Act as a visible role model for the agency’s values, fostering collective accountability and a unified leadership culture.
  • Represent Creative Production in agency-wide decision-making while acting in the best interests of the account and wider business.

Technology & Innovation

  • Champion adoption of AI, automation, Encodify and emerging production capabilities.
  • Support innovation initiatives that improve client value, operational efficiency and delivery quality.
  • Work alongside Operations to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify structural opportunities to improve client experience, operational efficiency and commercial performance.
  • Partner with Operations to implement new governance, operating models and best practices.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement across Creative Production.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading large creative production, client delivery or account organisations within a global production environment.
  • Extensive experience managing senior client relationships within complex international accounts.
  • Strong commercial acumen with ownership of forecasting, financial performance and resource planning.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-layered organisations including senior client leaders and delivery teams.
  • Ability to balance strategic client leadership with operational excellence.
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable operating across global and distributed teams.
  • Experience driving organisational change, governance and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for innovation, AI-enabled production and operational excellence.
