Job Title: Client Development Executive
Reports to: Telemarketing Team Leader
Location: Milton Keynes
Purpose of the Role:
The Client Development Executive (CDE) plays a key role in supporting the growth of BSI’s Product Certification business by creating and developing sales opportunities across both established and emerging market sectors. Through proactive engagement with existing and prospective customers, the CDE helps clients understand how BSI’s testing, inspection, and certification services can support their compliance, market access, and business objectives.
A core responsibility of the role is to execute targeted outbound campaigns in conjunction with Marketing, and with particular focus on certification transition programmes and strategic growth initiatives to build strong pipelines. The CDE identifies PC aims and needs, then uncovers new business opportunities, and ensures all enquiries and leads are followed up professionally, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
Working within a high-volume, target-driven environment, the role requires strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to build rapport with customers across a diverse range of industries. The Client Development Executive works closely with Account Managers, Business Development Managers, Marketing, and technical teams to generate qualified opportunities and contribute to a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.
Through effective use of CRM systems, disciplined opportunity management, and a customer-focused approach, the CDE contributes directly to revenue growth and customer retention.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Targeted client outreach: Contact existing and prospective clients by phone, teams, and email as part of agreed Product Certification marketing campaigns.
- Campaign support: Manage assigned campaign activity, attend exhibitions, prepare contact lists, follow up with clients, and keep accurate records of progress.
- Certification transition support: Speak with clients about certification transition requirements, helping them understand next steps and ensure certificates are renewed.
- Opportunity identification: Identify other sales opportunities from client conversations and pass qualified leads or next steps to the appropriate team where applicable.
- Client follow-up: Ensure client enquiries, actions, and agreed follow-ups are managed in a timely and professional way as directed.
- System and data accuracy: Maintain accurate records of calls, client updates, opportunities, and campaign outcomes in the relevant systems.
- Team collaboration: Work with sales, certification, and operational teams to support campaign delivery and improve the client experience.
- Sales focus: Contribute to a highly targeted, fast-moving sales environment by working to agreed activity, quality, and conversion measures.

Key Performance Indicators:
- Sales Achievement: Reach individual and team sales goals by contributing to targeted Product Certification campaigns and qualified sales opportunities.
- Account Growth: Support growth within existing and prospective client accounts by identifying certification needs, transition requirements, and potential opportunities.
- Campaign Management and Lead Qualification: Consistently support targeted campaigns by contacting clients, qualifying interest, and recording clear next steps.
- Call Effectiveness: Maintain an agreed level of quality and volume related outbound calls, with measurable engagement and follow-up outcomes.
- Learning Application: Build and apply knowledge of Product Certification services, sales techniques, and certification transition requirements to improve campaign outcomes.
- Collaborative Contribution: Work effectively with sales, certification, and operational teams to support campaign delivery, client follow-up, and a positive team culture.
Travel requirements:
- Milton Keynes office 3 times a week.
Language requirements:
- English
Knowledge and Experience (e.g., Type, level)
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in a sales, customer service, client support, or ideally target-driven telesales environment is preferred.
- Comfortable using Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and digital systems.
- Confident speaking with customers by phone, email, or online meetings.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to manage follow-ups and keep accurate records.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Targeted sales roles previously held.
- Able to multitask.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to explain technical or service-based information in a clear and simple way.

Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience working in testing, inspection, certification, compliance, or a technical service environment.
- Basic understanding of sales pipelines, lead qualification, or CRM systems.
