- Managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
- Acting as a key point of contact and building strong client relationships

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We want our Client Manager to know their clients, understand their businesses and become someone those clients can rely on.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is technically strong but, just as importantly, enjoys dealing with people.
You could be:
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- A qualified-by-experience accountant with strong practice experience
You'll ideally have several years' experience working in an accountancy practice and be comfortable managing your own portfolio of clients.
We're particularly interested in someone who:
- Has strong accounts and Corporation Tax experience
- Is comfortable dealing directly with clients
- Can manage their own workload and deadlines
- Has good attention to detail without getting lost in unnecessary bureaucracy
- Is commercially minded and interested in the wider picture behind the numbers
- Is confident using cloud accounting software, particularly Xero
- Enjoys technology and finding better ways of doing things
- Can communicate financial information clearly to business owners
- Wants responsibility and the opportunity to progress
Why Northway?
We're building a modern accountancy practice where technology makes things more efficient and client relationships still come first.
