Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and budget-versus-actual reporting.
- Produce clear commentary that explains performance, trends and issues in plain English.
- Help clients with cashflow forecasts and budgets where needed.
Accounts and Compliance
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies under FRS 102 and FRS 105.
- Prepare corporation tax computations and returns, and help prepare personal tax returns where required.
- Review bookkeeping records and make year-end adjustments, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and stock.
- Make sure deadlines for Companies House and HMRC are met across the portfolio.

Client Relationship Management
- Be the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, handling queries promptly and professionally.
- Hold regular review meetings with clients to talk through results and spot opportunities to add value.
- Build strong, long-term relationships and identify where the firm can offer further support.
Team and Workflow
- Plan and prioritise your own workload across the portfolio.
- Review the work of junior team members and support their development where appropriate.
- Keep practice management and job records up to date.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- At least 3 years' experience in an accountancy role.
- Strong experience preparing year-end accounts and management accounts for small and medium-sized businesses.
- Confident working with cloud accounting software, ideally Xero and QuickBooks.
- Good working knowledge of corporation tax and UK compliance deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-accountants.
- Well organised, with a strong eye for detail.

Desirable
- ACCA, ACA or AAT qualified, or part-qualified and working towards it.
- Experience within an accountancy practice
- Experience with accounts production software such as e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and TaxCalc
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
