The Role

Pomroy Associates is looking for an experienced Client Manager to join our growing accountancy practice in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

This is a key role within the firm. You will manage your own portfolio of SME clients, act as their main point of contact, oversee the delivery of high-quality accounts, tax and advisory services, and support the development of our wider team.

You will be trusted to build strong client relationships, lead client meetings, review work prepared by junior and semi-senior team members, and provide practical advice that helps business owners understand their numbers and make better decisions.

This role would suit someone who is technically strong, confident dealing with clients, and looking for a long-term opportunity in a modern, growing accountancy firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own portfolio of SME clients, acting as their main point of contact.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with business owners and directors.
  • Review year-end accounts prepared by Semi-Seniors, Juniors and Trainees.
  • Review corporation tax returns, personal tax returns, VAT returns and management accounts.
  • Ensure all work is accurate, compliant and delivered on time.
  • Lead client meetings, including accounts meetings, quarterly catch-ups and advisory discussions.
  • Prepare and present management accounts and financial reports to clients.
  • Provide practical, commercial advice to help clients understand and improve their businesses.
  • Identify advisory opportunities and work closely with Directors on client development.
  • Support clients with Xero, Dext, Syft, Apron, Engager and other cloud-based tools.
  • Mentor and support Semi-Seniors, Juniors and Trainees.
  • Help manage workloads, deadlines and job progress across your client portfolio.
  • Liaise with HMRC, Companies House and other third parties where required.
  • Maintain clear records, notes and actions within our practice management system.
  • Support the Directors with internal process improvements and service development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
