Client Manager - Accountancy Practice

North West London | £60,000-£65,000 + Clear Progression

If you're an experienced practice accountant ready to take genuine ownership of clients and play a meaningful role in the direction of a growing firm, this could be an excellent next step.

A growing boutique accountancy practice is looking to appoint a Client Manager into an integral position within its structure. Working closely with a highly experienced Director, you'll have responsibility not only for a varied client portfolio but also for helping shape the operational and growth strategy of the practice.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond a traditional compliance-focused position. You'll have genuine influence, significant client exposure, and the opportunity to contribute to how the business develops, with progression determined by performance, capability, and ambition rather than time served.

The Opportunity

As Client Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients, overseeing statutory accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax compliance while developing trusted, long-term relationships. Alongside your client responsibilities, you'll work closely with the Director on the operational running and continued growth of the practice. This will include helping improve processes, develop the team, manage workflow, and contribute to strategic decisions around future growth. You'll therefore have the opportunity to combine strong technical accounting and tax experience with genuine commercial and operational responsibility.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients, acting as a key day-to-day point of contact.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and other business structures.
  • Managing corporation tax compliance and associated filing requirements.
  • Overseeing personal tax returns for directors, business owners, and individuals.
  • Reviewing work produced by junior members of the team and providing technical guidance.
  • Managing your portfolio, workflow, and deadlines with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Building strong client relationships and providing practical accounting and tax advice.
  • Working closely with the Director on operational strategy and the efficient running of the practice.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the firm's wider growth strategy.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, and service delivery.
  • Supporting the development and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Helping shape the future direction of the practice as it continues to grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We're particularly interested in someone who wants to take on broader responsibility. You should be commercially aware, proactive, and confident enough to contribute ideas rather than simply follow established processes. Most importantly, you'll want to progress. The culture is genuinely meritocratic, meaning your career development will be driven by what you can demonstrate and the value you bring, rather than artificial barriers or rigid timeframes.

What's On Offer

  • £60,000-£65,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
  • An integral position within the firm's structure.
  • Close working relationship with a highly experienced Director.
  • Exposure to statutory accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax.
  • Genuine involvement in operational decision-making.
  • The opportunity to help drive the firm's growth strategy.
  • Clear progression into increasingly senior management and leadership responsibilities.
  • A meritocratic environment where strong performers can progress without unnecessary barriers.
  • Ongoing professional and technical development.
  • A varied portfolio of interesting SME and owner-managed clients.
  • The opportunity to have a genuine influence on the future direction of a growing accountancy practice.

If you're an ambitious Senior Accountant, Assistant Client Manager, or existing Client Manager looking for a broader role where you can combine technical expertise with operational and strategic responsibility, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
