Client Manager — Accounts, Audit & Tax | Coventry
Ready to lead, not just execute? We're a growing accountancy practice based in Coventry, and we're looking for a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA) with real practice experience to take ownership of a client portfolio, mentor junior team members, and help shape how we deliver for clients across SMEs, corporates, LLPs and beyond. This isn't a "sit behind a desk and process accounts" role. You'll be the trusted advisor clients call first, the technical go-to for your team, and a genuine voice in how we grow.
What you'll be doing
- Own a portfolio — you're the main point of contact, driving timely delivery of accounts, tax and compliance work
- Lead on audit — plan, execute and complete statutory audit engagements as part of a collaborative team
- Get technical — prepare and review management accounts and statutory financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS
- Develop people — supervise and coach junior colleagues, including across our global service centres
- Cover the full tax picture — review VAT, Corporation Tax, P11Ds and PSA compliance
- Be the trusted advisor — turn client queries into real conversations about improving their financial performance
- Grow the business — build lasting client relationships and spot opportunities to add value
- Keep things moving — support billing, debt management, and junior staff development

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
