Avalon produced Newman and Baddiel: Live at Wembley, the UK’s first arena comedy show, Jerry Springer: The Opera, winner of four Olivier Awards, and is currently producing the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical, Operation Mincemeat in the West End and on Broadway.

The Team

The successful candidate will sit within the Client Payments department, allowing them to liaise directly with Client Managers, assistants, and senior members of the Finance on a day-to-day basis, providing the opportunity to gain invaluable commercial insight into the Talent Management business as well as Avalon as a whole. The primary focus of the role being to support the client payments and accounts payable processes. The client payment team is responsible for ensuring our clients are accurately paid in a timely manner for their work across all Avalon divisions, including Talent Management, Television, and Live touring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review remittances/statements and raise invoices as required
  • Review internal sales orders and issue client invoices ensuring timely and accurate billing
  • Dealing with internal stakeholders (e.g. Talent Managers) in relation to client queries and client payment run process
  • Dealing with queries and any issues relating to invoices and payments
  • Prepare daily BACS income data and input sales receipts into the accounting system
  • Monitor unallocated payments and follow up as required
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts (GBP, USD & EUR’s)
  • Raise VAT invoices where required
  • Assist with fortnightly client payment runs, including drafting client statements for manager approval, ensuring income is appropriately commissioned, setting up payments using Bankline
  • Manage communication with internal stakeholders (e.g. Talent Managers) regarding client queries and payment run timelines
  • Handle queries and resolve issues relating to invoices and payments
  • Reviewing and chasing debtors as required
  • Assisting other Finance staff as required
  • Assisting preparation of ad hoc business analysis
  • General administrative tasks and support for the Team
  • Ensuring efficiency of the end-to-end process and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and commercial enhancement

About You

  • Will have experience of working in a similar role (e.g. client payment processing, payroll administration, accounts payable clerk)
  • Self-starter who can equally thrive in an environment where they need to take the initiative
  • Record of effective collaboration across teams and a positive attitude to change
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic Excel skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Team player with a collaborative approach
  • A keen interest in the media, but no prior experience required
