Lamont Pridmore is looking for an experienced practice accountant to join our Carlisle team!
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established portfolio of clients, combining your technical accounting expertise with commercial insight to help businesses make confident financial decisions. You'll become a trusted adviser to owner-managed and family-run businesses, providing a service that goes beyond compliance to deliver genuine value.
In addition to a salary of £42,500–£49,500, you'll be eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 17%, rewarding your contribution to exceptional client service and business success.

As a Client Portfolio Manager, you'll manage your own portfolio of clients while building trusted relationships and delivering a first-class service. You'll work with business owners to understand their goals, interpret financial performance and provide advice that helps them plan for the future.

What you’ll be doing
As Client Portfolio Manager, You Will
- Manage a portfolio of owner-managed and family businesses, acting as their main point of contact on a daily basis and providing high-quality services.
- Plan, prepare and review financial accounts within agreed deadlines and budgets.
- Produce accurate monthly, quarterly and half-yearly management reports.
- Present financial information in a clear, practical way that supports business decisions for clients.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and wider business performance.
- Develop strong, lasting relationships through proactive communication and excellent client service.
- Work alongside Managing Directors to enhance internal processes and maintain high standards.
- Contribute to the continued growth of the practice through referrals, networking and identifying opportunities within your client portfolio.
Essential Requirements
We're looking for candidates with:
- Previous experience in a client-facing position within an accountancy practice.
- Experience managing a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge gained in practice.
- A commercial mindset with the ability to understand the challenges facing SMEs.
- Experience using accounts preparation software.
- Good working knowledge of cloud accounting softwares such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a professional client-centric attitude.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- A full UK driving licence.

Desirable requirements
ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent experience within an accountancy practice.

Working pattern and location
This is a permanent, full-time office-based position in Carlisle.
Working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm, with flexibility available where business needs allow.
Some travel to client premises and other Lamont Pridmore offices will be required as part of the role.
