A brand-new opportunity within the water & wastewater sector
We're recruiting on behalf of an established and growing business that works closely with organisations across the UK water and wastewater utility sector.
As part of the continued development of their commercial team, they're creating a brand-new Client Relations Executive role for someone who enjoys building relationships, speaking to customers and, most importantly, booking quality meetings for an experienced external Sales team.
The business already has strong relationships with many major organisations across the sector, and much of the initial door-opening has already been done. Your role will be to stay close to those existing contacts, proactively make calls, identify opportunities and book meetings for the external Sales Representatives.
The ultimate aim is simple: to make sure the Sales Representatives have a consistent diary of quality customer meetings and can spend 3-4 days a week out on the road meeting customers.
This isn't a traditional new-business or Account Manager role. You won't be responsible for managing the commercial relationship through to sale. Instead, you'll be the key link between the customer and the external Sales team, using your communication and relationship-building skills to arrange the right conversations and get the Sales Representatives in front of the right people.
What You'll Be Doing
- Proactively contacting existing customers and contacts by phone and email to book meetings for the external Sales Representatives
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with existing customers and contacts
- Regularly speaking with customers to stay connected, understand what's happening within their organisations and identify potential opportunities
- Following up with existing contacts and identifying the right people for the Sales Representatives to meet
- Qualifying conversations and turning them into relevant, worthwhile customer meetings
- Taking ownership of filling the Sales Representatives' diaries with quality appointments
- Managing follow-ups so that potential meetings and conversations don't go cold
- Working closely with the Sales Representatives to understand their priorities, target accounts and the types of customers they need to see
- Coordinating customer visits and ensuring the Sales team has the information they need before heading out to see customers
- Keeping accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including details of conversations, follow-ups and booked meetings
- Sharing customer feedback, intelligence and relationship updates with the wider commercial team
- Continuously looking ahead at the Sales Representatives' diaries and identifying who needs to be contacted and what meetings need to be booked next
- Helping ensure the Sales Representatives can spend the majority of their time doing what they do best - being out on the road, meeting customers and developing relationships

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is organised, personable and relationship-focused, with the confidence to pick up the phone, have conversations with customers and ask for the meeting.
You may have experience in client relations, appointment setting, sales support, customer service, account management, telesales or a similar role.
However, we're less interested in a particular job title and more interested in finding someone who genuinely enjoys speaking to people, creating opportunities and getting meetings into the diary for others.
You'll need:
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence speaking to customers and contacts at different levels of an organisation
- A friendly, professional and persistent telephone manner
- Confidence and resilience when making regular outbound calls
- A natural ability to turn conversations into booked meetings
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to manage follow-ups and keep multiple conversations moving
- A proactive approach - you're someone who naturally thinks about who needs calling, which conversations need following up and what meetings need booking next
- The ability to work closely with Sales Representatives and understand what they need from you
- Good CRM and administrative discipline
- Resilience and persistence without being overly sales-driven
- A genuine interest in building long-term customer relationships
- Most importantly, a real sense of achievement from booking quality meetings and knowing that your work directly helps the Sales team succeed
