Ever managed a team so big you forgot what your actual job was?

This one's the opposite. You'd be leading a team of five, and you'd still be close enough to the work to jump on a client call yourself when it matters.

It's a newly created leadership role at a fast-growing fintech. They've built a market-leading trading platform that helps banks, asset managers, hedge funds and private banks trade electronically, and those are exactly the type of clients this role supports.

They're headquartered in London, but Newcastle is where the growth is happening right now, a hub of around 20 people across development, finance and support, and this role sits right in the middle of it. They've just landed a major new partnership and are scaling into the US and Asia too. The support function you'd be leading already exists, four junior analysts and one senior, based in Newcastle, they just don't have anyone leading them yet.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'd own escalations, get properly involved in onboarding for key clients, and spend your first 90 days working out where the team's support maturity actually sits today, before building and delivering the plan to move it forward. Client feedback you gather feeds straight into the product roadmap, so this isn't a role where your input disappears into a black hole.

You'll need experience managing a small, hands-on client support or client services team within a technology or software business, that's the one non-negotiable, this isn't a generalist customer service background. Ideally that's been supporting financial software specifically, though a strong software or SaaS support background elsewhere is still worth talking to me about. A genuinely operational mindset and real willingness to work directly with clients matters too, this isn't a role where you can delegate everything down.
