This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership – focused on growing our global position in flood risk management, coastal resilience, climate adaptation and integrated water management supported by our climate advisory capabilities.
What you will do as Climate Resilience Lead
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning's global market approach and growth -combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to strengthen our market position, develop new opportunities, and ensure we continue to deliver meaningful impact for our clients and communities.
At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, focused on delivering practical, large-scale solutions in flood risk management, coastal resilience and integrated water systems, complemented by climate advisory that helps clients shape strategy and investment decisions. We are looking for someone who understands the technical, commercial and policy drivers shaping investment in this sector and can translate these into market opportunities and client value.
Shape our global market strategy
- Define and evolve our global approach to climate resilience, ensuring we focus on the right markets, clients and opportunities.
- Set strategic direction and strengthen our global positioning.
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients.
- Turn market, policy and investment trends into clear market insights, value propositions and growth plans.
Drive growth and business development
- Play a central role in building a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities and supporting major pursuits.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities.
- Support major pursuits and develop winning strategies and client engagement approaches.
- Work with business development and our marketing & growth team to convert opportunities into successful projects.
Develop strategic client relationships
- Engage with clients and partner at a senior level to strengthen our market presence.
- Develop relationships with key clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners.
- Support key account strategies for major clients.
- Ensure client needs and market demands are reflected in our services and innovation efforts.
Lead industry engagement and thought leadership
- Represent Haskoning in the market and strengthen our reputation as a trusted adviser.
- Act as our external ambassador for climate resilience.
- Build visibility through events, partnerships, and publications.
- Position Haskoning in priority markets

Where you will work
At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together," drives us to create a positive impact on the world.

This role reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime. The role will be based in either the NL or the UK, international travel will be required throughout the year.
What you bring
- Significant experience in a strategic, commercial, or business development leadership role, ideally within global consulting or engineering environments.
- Strong background in flood risk management, coastal engineering, water management, catchment and river basin management or climate adaptation of water-related infrastructure.
- Proven track record in business development, developing markets and winning complex, high value opportunities.
- Strong external network across clients, partners and investors in the sector.
- Ability to operate in complex, international matrix environments and influence senior stakeholders.
- Highly commercial, with a strong client focus and ability to translate strategy into tangible business results.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related discipline.
- The role can based in either the Netherlands or the United Kingdom and candidates must have the legal right to work in the respective country.
