The University of Edinburgh is a world-class organisation. We are a large University covering a wide range of activities. In Professional Services, we support the University's research and teaching, offering many career and role specialisms.
As Climbing Wall Supervisor, you'll provide daily supervision of the Tower Climbing Wall and Rock Bouldering area, making sure every climber can enjoy the wall safely. Reporting to the Climbing Wall Team Leader and working closely with the Technical Advisor and wider Edinburgh Sport team, you'll carry out floor walks, lead rescues when needed, welcome and register members, manage equipment hire and complete daily safety checks. You'll also run courses teaching new climbers to climb and belay safely, and set fresh, challenging routes and problems for our community of over 20,000 members.
Climbing isn't just a sport, it's a community. We're looking for someone who is an active, enthusiastic climber and just as passionate about people as they are about climbing. You'll hold, or be willing to gain, a Climbing Wall Instructor or Rock Climbing Instructor qualification.
This role will be based at The Pleasance Sports Complex and Gym, 46 Pleasance, Edinburgh, EH8 9TJ.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
