Job Description

About Us

We are health innovation specialists. We work with others to transform healthcare through innovation. We help generate new ideas and innovations or adapt existing ones. We test, evaluate, and scale the best approaches, working with NHS colleagues to implement solutions in hospitals, communities, GP practices, and beyond. We draw on diverse expertise from healthcare, universities, industry, and communities breaking down silos and creating connections as we build healthcare fit for the future. Please visit our website our website to find out more about us, our values, and how we work.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an 8-month Clinical Advisor to support the implementation and expansion of Martha’s Rule across North Central and North East London as part of our Patient Safety Collaborative programme.

The Patient Safety Collaborative Team delivers quality improvement programmes aligned to NHS England’s National Patient Safety Strategy, working with NHS providers and commissioners to improve outcomes for patients, families, and carers.

Following the successful rollout of Martha’s Rule within adult and paediatric services, this role will support its expansion into other specialist areas (e.g. Emergency Departments, Maternity and Neonatal services) across the UCLPartners geography.

The Clinical Advisor will work closely with provider organisations to embed Martha’s Rule within complex clinical pathways. They will lead and support a range of improvement activities, including site visits, learning events, improvement clinics, stakeholder engagement, and bespoke coaching for local teams.

The post holder will provide both clinical and improvement expertise, supporting implementation, measurement, and spread of best practice while ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared. They will also be responsible for project management and delivery, ensuring projects achieve measurable outcomes and meet organisational requirements.

Applicants should have a clinical background, ideally in nursing or midwifery, alongside experience of quality improvement methodologies and project delivery.

They will also advise, coach, and facilitate discussions with local teams on improvement techniques and best practice to support the successful implementation, measurement, and spread in line with the overall programme objectives, ensuring lessons learned are captured and fed into programme reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, expansion, and sustainability of Martha's Rule across Adult, Paediatric, Emergency, Maternity, and Neonatal services within the UCLPartners geography.
  • Work closely with the Head of Transformation and provider organisations to deliver national and regional Martha's Rule priorities.
  • Build effective relationships with clinicians, operational leads, executives, commissioners, patients, and wider stakeholders to support successful programme delivery.
  • Facilitate engagement with multidisciplinary teams to promote local ownership, implementation, and embedding of Martha's Rule within complex clinical pathways.
  • Act as a key liaison between frontline teams, clinical leaders, governance structures, and the wider Martha's Rule programme, ensuring effective communication and escalation where required.
  • Provide clinical expertise, coaching, facilitation, and constructive challenge to support service improvement and the adoption of best practice.
  • Lead and support a range of improvement activities including site visits, learning events, improvement clinics, workshops, communities of practice, and bespoke team support.
  • Support organisations to design, test, measure, and evaluate changes using change management and quality improvement techniques ensuring implementation is evidence-based and outcomes-focused.
  • Capture, analyse, and share learning, insights, and good practice to support spread and sustainability across participating organisations.
  • Act as a Workstream Lead (WSL) to undertake day-to-day project management activities including planning, delivery, risk management, and reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of improvement and transformation capability across UCLPartners through knowledge sharing, coaching, and collaborative working.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
